I'm a big girl now!

Esme is in a forward facing car seat! She's such a big girl!

She's been growing out of her infant car seat for awhile now. She's got long legs and she's been having to bend her knees a bit while facing backwards. You're supposed to wait until they're a year old and 20 pounds before you turn them. Well, she's been well over 20 pounds for a long time so we decided to turn her early. Plus, the old car seat said that it was up to 30 inches. I'm not sure, but I think she's probably longer than that.

We are using Laurel's old car seats. Aaron put one of them in his car seat yesterday when he brought her home from daycare at his parents. I was disappointed because I didn't get to see her reaction, but I guess she really liked it. Today, I changed out the car seat in my car and we drove around the block. She looked like she was enjoying it. It's a whole new world, facing forward!

Next she'll be getting her drivers license!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today is my first Mother's day... according to Aaron. :) And technically, he's right. Last year I was 8 months pregnant. It's safe to say that this year was much more fun!

It started out very early though. Esme has been sleeping through the night most of her life. However, the last two nights she's woken up, very upset. I'm not sure if she's scared of something or having bad dreams, but it's not fun. So at midnight on Mother's Day we were rocking in her room getting her back to sleep. It was so cute - that little breathing that babies do when they've been crying really hard and then start to calm down. So I got to start my day with Esme, cuddling. She doesn't cuddle too much these days, so that was the best!

Aaron let me sleep in which was awesome! Most weekends he lets me, so not too different today. But when I came downstairs, he had flowers for our yard for me. A hanging basket for the front of our house and a red geranium. I always get a red geranium even though I don't particularly like them. My Grandma Pearl loved them and they remind me of her.

He was also getting ready to make me pancakes. We were in the kitchen and I looked over and where our old huge television used to sit, there was a nice, new, flat screen TV!!! He also got a Blue-ray player and a couple of movies (Avatar for one). Very fun!

We decided to go for a walk at Crow Hassan. Last time we went, Esme went in the stroller, but it was pretty bumpy. So today we put her in the backpack. It worked pretty well. She seemed to like being up high by Daddy's shoulders.

But after awhile she fell asleep.

Then we went over to Aaron's parent's house. It was also Grandma Barb's birthday so we got to celebrate that. We spent the afternoon there and then came home and cleaned. Still working to get settled in our new home. We're getting there slowly. :)

Sorry for the delay!

We will be blogging again... from a new location.

The last couple of months have been all about finding a new house, renting out the old house, moving to the new house, and making it a home. It's slowly happening, but holy cow does it take time!

I've been taking pictures during that time and will definitely be back-blogging. So look for new blogs and old ones too!

Too cold to swing

It's cold, but Grandma and Grandpa were here from North Dakota, so we had to show them how much Esme likes to swing. We can't wait for it to get warmer so we can do this more often!

Grandma loved it!!!

Here's looking forward to summertime ahead!!!

Easter 2010

Here are a few pictures of Esme's first Easter basket in her Easter pajamas.

Esme continues to do big things on holidays.

Today she learned to walk up the stairs for the first time. We were celebrating Easter and Annika and Laurel's birthdays at Steve and Jodie's house. After all the food was eaten and the presents were opened Esme started off for the stairs and seemed like a pro right away!

One more milestone crossed!!!

Teething biscuits

On our last night in New England, we decided to give Esme a teething biscuit. They are like paste! Good thing we were planning on giving her a bath. These are definitely treats that will only be given on a bath night! :)

Today Esme reached out to me for the first time! :) Aaron was holding her, standing in the dining room, and I came down the stairs. As soon as I got close to her, she reached out both of her arms towards me. That was awesome!!!
